Penciclovir

Mechanism of action:

Penciclovir is a nucleoside analog. Inside cells, Penciclovir is converted into the active form penciclovir triphosphate, which competes with dGTP and selectively inhibits viral DNA polymerase, thereby preventing effective viral replication.
