Phenoxybenzamine

Mechanism of action:
Phenoxybenzamine is an irreversible α-adrenergic blocker. It blocks α₁ receptors on vascular smooth muscle, causing peripheral vasodilation and lowering blood pressure. It also blocks neuronal α₂ receptors, promoting norepinephrine release and potentially causing reflex tachycardia.
