Piperacillin

Mechanism of action:

Piperacillin is a β-lactam antibiotic. It binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) and inhibits peptidoglycan cross-linking, causing the cell wall to lose its structural integrity. As a result, bacteria eventually rupture and die because they can no longer withstand osmotic pressure.
