Potassium iodide
Mechanism of action:
Potassium iodide is an inorganic iodide salt. It provides iodide ions (I⁻) as a substrate for thyroid hormone synthesis, allowing the production of triiodothyronine (T₃) and thyroxine (T₄), thereby supporting normal thyroid function.
