Protriptyline

Mechanism of action:

Protriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant (TCA). Protriptyline primarily inhibits the norepinephrine transporter, increasing the concentration of norepinephrine in the synaptic cleft and enhancing noradrenergic activity in the central nervous system. Protriptyline has a weaker inhibitory effect on the serotonin transporter.
