Ramelteon

Mechanism of action:

Ramelteon is a selective melatonin receptor agonist. Ramelteon activates MT1 and MT2 melatonin receptors in the suprachiasmatic nucleus of the hypothalamus. The MT1 receptor promotes sleep onset and suppresses wake-promoting signals, whereas the MT2 receptor regulates and synchronizes circadian rhythm.
