Salmeterol

Mechanism of action:

Salmeterol is a selective beta2-adrenergic agonist. Salmeterol binds to and activates beta2-adrenergic receptors on bronchial smooth muscle, activates Gs protein, stimulates adenylyl cyclase activity, and increases cAMP levels. This causes smooth muscle relaxation and produces bronchodilation.
