Secobarbital

Mechanism of action:

Secobarbital is a barbiturate derivative. Secobarbital binds to the barbiturate binding site on the GABA_A receptor complex, prolongs the opening time of the chloride channel, increases Cl- influx, causes neuronal hyperpolarization, and markedly suppresses neuronal firing.
