Sertraline

Mechanism of action:
Sertraline is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor and a phenylamine derivative. Sertraline binds with high affinity to the serotonin transporter on the presynaptic neuronal membrane, blocks the reuptake of serotonin, or 5-HT, from the synaptic cleft back into the neuron, increases serotonin concentration in the synaptic cleft, and enhances serotonergic activity.
