Teriparatide

Mechanism of action:

Teriparatide is a parathyroid hormone analog and corresponds to the recombinant human PTH 1-34 amino acid fragment. Teriparatide binds to the parathyroid hormone 1 receptor on the surface of osteoblasts in bone, activating the Gs protein-adenylyl cyclase pathway, increasing cAMP levels, and activating protein kinase A. This induces a series of gene expression changes that promote bone formation and osteoblast differentiation.
