Valnemulin
Mechanism of action:
Valnemulin is a pleuromutilin antibiotic. Valnemulin binds to the peptidyl transferase center of the bacterial 50S ribosomal subunit, and this binding site differs from those of macrolide, lincosamide, and streptogramin antibiotics. Valnemulin interferes with the proper positioning of tRNA between the A site and the P site, thereby inhibiting peptide bond formation and early protein elongation, which ultimately blocks bacterial protein synthesis.
