Vilazodone

Mechanism of action:
Vilazodone is a serotonin reuptake inhibitor and partial agonist. Vilazodone inhibits the serotonin transporter in neurons, increasing the concentration of serotonin (5-HT) in the synaptic cleft and enhancing serotonergic activity. In addition, vilazodone acts as a partial agonist at both presynaptic and postsynaptic 5-HT1A receptors. Presynaptically, it can reduce excessive negative feedback inhibition; postsynaptically, it can help reduce anxiety and regulate mood.
