Vorinostat

Mechanism of action:
Vorinostat is a histone deacetylase inhibitor. Under normal conditions, histone deacetylases remove acetyl groups from histones, causing chromatin condensation and suppression of gene transcription. Vorinostat inhibits class I, II, and IV histone deacetylases, increasing the degree of histone acetylation, loosening chromatin structure, and allowing the re-expression of suppressed tumor suppressor genes.
