Zonisamide

Mechanism of action:
Zonisamide is a sulfonamide derivative. It inhibits voltage-gated sodium channels, thereby suppressing rapid repetitive neuronal firing and reducing the abnormal continuous generation of action potentials. It also inhibits T-type calcium channels, which decreases neuronal synchronization and stabilizes neural network activity.
