Mechanism of action:
Leuprorelin 是一種促性腺激素釋放激素(gonadotropin-releasing hormone)類似物,屬於合成胜肽(synthetic peptide)。在初期,leuprorelin 持續刺激腦下垂體前葉的促性腺激素釋放激素受體(gonadotropin-releasing hormone receptor),導致黃體成長激素(LH)與濾泡刺激素(FSH)分泌暫時上升,進而使睪酮(男性)或雌激素(女性)短暫升高。持續提供後,促性腺激素釋放激素受體因長時間刺激而發生去敏化(desensitization)與下調,使腦下垂體的黃體成長激素與濾泡刺激素分泌明顯下降,最終可使男性的睪酮下降至去勢濃度(chemical castration);女性的雌激素大幅降低。
