Bacitracin

桿菌肽

Mechanism of action:

Bacitracin 是一種多肽類抗生素(polypeptide antibiotic)。細菌的細胞壁合成需要將肽聚醣前驅物(peptidoglycan precursors)從細胞質運送到細胞膜外側,這個過程依賴脂質載體分子 C55-異戊烯基焦磷酸(C55-isoprenyl pyrophosphate) 的循環。在循環中,C55-異戊烯基焦磷酸需經去磷酸化(dephosphorylation)後再被重新利用,而 bacitracin 可與 C55-異戊烯基焦磷酸結合,阻止其去磷酸化,使肽聚醣前驅物無法運送出去,細胞壁無法合成,最後細菌因滲透壓差作用下發生溶解而死亡。
