Morphological description
Redlichia chinensis is a relatively large trilobite, reaching up to 7.5 cm in length. The cephalon is broad, with long genal spines. The thorax consists of 15 segments, with the eleventh segment bearing a posteriorly directed axial spine. The pygidium is small.
Etymology
Redlich: a surname, in honor of the paleontologist K. A. Redlich
chinensis: Latin, meaning from China
Biological description
Redlichia chinensis was discovered in 1966 in regions of Hunan and Guizhou, China. At least 19 specimens have been identified to date. It was a benthic organism, likely feeding on seafloor sediments.
